Laina Turner is a published author of 17 books, teacher, coach, mentor for aspiring writers, and entrepreneur. Not only is she experienced and knowledgable about building a career she loves, but she is equally as passionate about helping other writers to the same, with the Writer Warrior's Collective.
In this episode, we explore the very beginning of her first steps to becoming an author. What was she afraid, where did she make mistakes, and what did she learn from it? Her coaching philosophy is similar to, "I made mistakes, so you don't have to."
In her words, "In 2nd grade, I declared I was going to be an author. By the time I got to college, I’d decided on a more practical route and went to business school. While not my dream it did afford me many opportunities. I finally came full circle, and I’m right back where I wanted to be in the first place. I’m an author. It still gives me butterflies when I say it.
After years of putting my writing dreams on the back burner, I finally decided to face my fears and follow my passion about 10 years ago. Since then I’ve released 17 fiction novels, and boy have I learned a lot on my journey over the last 10 years. It’s not easy being an author but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I get to spend my days making up stories and helping other authors. There isn’t anything better than that."
